So Costello turned around to the waiting media, and castigated Rudd:
Really, I mean, Rudd has just gone and copied every idea we've ever had, and we thought most of those up while we were on that week long bender in Manuka that time, they're stupid ideas which had no hope of ever working, and that Rudd has copied them off us shows just how stupid the little swot really is.

Reports say that Costello was later savagely beaten by an enraged Howard for breaking the rule that what happens in Manuka stays in Manuka.

Moreover,
Union bosses would not let Mr Rudd as prime minister make those promised cuts to the tax rates for high-income earners, Mr Costello said.
Because those evil Union Bosses are all fat rich bastards, who despise all businesses and workers, and eat babies, and rape puppies.

Don't vote Labor, please think of the puppies!! What have the unions ever done for us anyway?

Oy. Is the election over yet?

Dagnabbbit. If people are gunna use pseudonyms, I wish to Bog they'd use 'em at conventions too. I've read and enjoyed your last two posts, and it annoys hell out of me that I can't put a face to these opinions.

Who am I talking to here?

I think I can guarantee that you don't know me IRL. (My homepage at work is here, if that helps, and frm there, most references to "David Cameron Staples" on google refer to me, although I have been contacted by a reporter in Canada with the exact same name, and there is a Dr. David Staples who also lives in Melbourne, who is a world expert on Sea Spiders, but nevermind that.)

Judging from what I see in your journal, we have a lot in common, though. I also have small children, for example. (Two girls, 4.5ish and 2.5ish.)

I found you through [livejournal.com profile] drjon (if memory serves) linking to this post, and liking how you think.

And if you really are that Flinthart, so much cooler.

Umm... to the best of my knowledge, I am indeed THAT Flinthart. A great deal depends on whether or not you work for any one of a number of federal agencies in the US or their equivalent here in Australia.

I suppose the day may come when people wind up adopting the Flinthart moniker for themselves on various spaces, but so far it doesn't seem to be happening. I'm grateful, I think.

Nice to meet you, Mr Staples. And yes, my curiosity was piqued because I found your comments sharp.
