Beware the people who cite Occam's Razor with regard to that.
It appears that some really do believe that ignorance/magic/god(s) is simpler than science, so it must be true! You should see Jehovas' expressions glaze over when they try to politely ignore my explanation (in answer to their question) about how one of the pretty sea-shells on my porch came to exist. It's easier to say "god did it" than actually look at the science, and that is a huge impediment to science in the reality vs magic debate.
