Obama Deathwish Fantasies, aka, The Left getting upset over noth-- wait, what?

A while ago, some people on The Left thought about Barak Obama, and what might the consquenses be if he were elected. Or even nominated. After all, the US has some history of political assassinations and attempts thereof (especially, but not exclusively, at progressives); and of white supremacists; and even of Just Plain Nutjobs Who Blow Shit Up For No Good Reason.

The howls of derision started up from the usual suspects that this was some sort of pathological deathwish fantasy... on the part of The Left. There was simply no evidence that anything was likely to happen: it was simply those lefty idiots hyperventilating over nothing, again. Those fools.


I mean, it's not like Obama is in any danger whatsoever, is it?

Well, blind Freddie could see that there will be nut-cases out there who would be outraged out of their tiny minds that a black man (who they likely also believe to be a Muslim) might become President of their White Christian Nation. And that's just the racists. That purely political hatred against "liberals" exists was eloquently illustrated by the recent Unitarian Church shootings. Yes, that was an unusually violent expression of the meme, but the meme for hatred of liberals undeniably exists, and violent expressions of that mind-set will occur. And how better to express it than by assassinating Obama as overwhelmingly popular liberal candidate or as liberal President?

I think that Obama must be conscious of the potential for there to be gun-sights focussed on him wherever he goes. And for that, I admire him more.

Where this perfectly rational fear is discussed, it is routinely derided as loony paranoia, which makes me doubt the intellectual honesty of those doing the deriding. Seriously. Blind Freddie knows the risk exists, and why. How can supposedly intelligent and informed individuals genuinely not see it?

I think the word the kids use these days is 'pwned'.

Of course a real challenge to those who asserted that such a thing was a 'pathological deathwish fantasy' is now acknowledging that a black liberal is a person who will be seriously targeted.

Actually, I'm shocked that no-one from the Right has thought to blame Hillary Clinton for this yet.

Instead they seem to be running with the "bunch of meth-heads"/"not a credible threat" line.

Maybe they're saving the Clinton line for when there is a credible threat.
