Andre Bolt really is contemptible.

Boltwatch informs me of Andrew Bolt's addition to the discussion about the tragic killings in Finland yesterday.

“We don’t know what is behind the killing. I’m interested in Auvinen’s contempt for humanity, which is not just a feature of the neo-Nazism he spouts, but of the more extreme global warming advocates who demand we reduce the number of dirty, earth-raping humans.

I’d better be clear for the jumpers-to-conclusions. No, I’m not accusing Auvinen of being a green, and greens of being murderers - or Nazis.”

Pay no attention to what he says, instead listen to what he tells you he said.

Because he is NOT saying that Greens are Nazis. He is just saying that they are like Nazis. And murderers. No, wait, ‘like murderers’.

And that makes it alright.


And the comments, just the first few, proceed to blame the murders (and presumably the Nazis and Greens) on Avant-guarde artists and Scandinavian Socialism. Dog whistle, much? Actually, I take that back. It's not a dog whistle if everyone can hear it.

I had to stop reading Boltwatch. Even second-hand Bolt is carcinogenic to the soul...

This is one of Bolt's favorite "arguments". He's used it for years, always through weasel words and innuendo.

e.g: The Greens believe in protecting the environment. The Nazis believed in protecting the sacred German Fatherland. Now I'm not drawing any specific conclusions from that but if I use the term "Environmentalist" in future columns, you might well think I mean "Nazi", but no-one can prove that I said that.

Consider this though: Andrew Bolt is convinced that Islam cannot live peaceably side by side with other faiths. Osama Bin Laden believes that Islam cannot live side by side with other faiths. Now you might draw the conclusion from that that Andrew Bolt supports Al Quaeda's goals of global war between Muslims and non-Muslims. You might assume that Andrew Bolt cheered when he first heard about 9/11 and that he relishes every terrorist bombing and every innocent death. It's possible you might get the impression that Andrew Bolt aches for the day when Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, Syria and Indonesia will join together and begin seriously fighting to build a global caliphate governed according to Sharia law.

You might think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
