Much better now. Thanks for the messages of support.

I'm now at about 90-95% for my right hand, and 85-90% for the left. Instantaneous strength almost back to normal, but almost instant fatigue. Still slightly clumsy, with fine control still an issue. I can write, but not normally. I can type, but not at full speed, and it starts to hurt quickly. But, and this is the good bit, over the last couple of days I could feel my hands recovering. I would try to do something and fail, and try it again half an hour later and succeed. I could notice the pain fading from my forearms.

I still haven't been able to get through to the doctor. I am comforted that if the pathology had found anything really nasty, she would have let me know. As it is, it may go down to TarlaĆonn cac, unless it happens again.

I hope it doesn't happen again.

thanks.
we'll be working with primary-age kids, and want to get them to read the Latin to help explain the pronunciation. we were thinking of starting with well-known things like nursery rhymes. do you know where i might find some? or any other suggestions you might have would be more than welcome

I don't know of any nursery rhymes in Latin. I don't know that any are recorded from classical times, and by the middle ages Latin was not anyone's first language, and was taught long after the age that nursery rhymes would have been appropriate. There are, however, many recorded drinking songs in Latin. (Including gaudeamus igitur(!))

You may not, however, be entirely out of luck. Winnie ille Pu and Domus Anguli Puensis are translations of Winnie the Pooh and House at Pooh Corner into Latin. If the kids know these stories at all well, then the translations should be fairly transparent.
"Qui est?" rogavit Pu.
"Ego est," dixit animalis incognitum.
"Ah," dixit Pu.
...
If you can find them, of course. If you are in Melbourne, I'd try the Foreign Language Bookshop on Collins st first.

Hmmm. Good. I'm still wondering if it's an odd kind of post-viral syndrome, but I assume that your doctor knows much more about that one than me.

Maybe pool/snooker/billiards would aid in the rehabilitation at some stage?

That almost sounds like a (potential) plan...

Does, doesn't it? When would work for you? If baby-sitting could be arranged, Mim might even like it too. :)

BTW, I can make it to Susie's birthday, I've just pulled off some shift-swapping, and it will work out fine.
