Wow. Apparantly American CBS really does think everyone is an idiot.

This story goes beyond any accusations as to whether Bush dodged his duty or not. In fact, that is utterly irrelevant. What this story is about is that CBS 60 minutes thinks that no will pick up that there is superscript and kerning in a memo written over thirty years ago. For the love of the gods, why not include a footer saying "c:\My Documents\Bush\memo.doc"? It would be about as obvious.

Read all the links, really. There are different, yet overlapping and mutually supportive analyses on each of them. I like the one where someone went to his PC, and typed out an identical copy of the memo using a vanilla setup of MS Word, changing not a single setting. Even superimposed, they are jot and tittle identical.

Hmm. Interesting. Not particularly relevant to us in the electoral sense, but it does say something about the failures of the media.

Assuming that the documents are forgeries, what's the current take on who and why? I assume it's the Kerry camp, or supporters there-of, trying to discredit the Garden Gnome, but I'm guessing there's likely to be counter-claims and wilder theories around than just that...
