On a related note, I've been poking around. Do you know anything about this mob? I'm trying to find alternatives to compare and contrast, but - as I seem to remember you finding - everybody seems to be focused on children, not adults.
Interesting. While shiny!er than the ASD clinic's website, it is structured similarly well, which indicates to me that they actually care about spectrum people being able to figure it out. Including a webform to make first contact through email, and a button to turn off that annoying smilyhappypeople banner. The price is unambiguous, at a bee's dick less than $1000 (ouch), and the FAQ makes it clear that the Medicare rebate only applies to paediatric diagnoses (bloody Medicare and only children need diagnosis bullshit attitude). (The dubious places tend to not mention who they look at, or only talk about children and let you find out that they don't even look at adults when you go ask, and moreover, they don't tell you the price up front. If there are more stock photos of smiling families than there are paragraphs, run away.)
But these guys do explicitly say "comprehensive evidence-based assessments for autism spectrum disorder in children, adolescents and adults", which is a good sign.
Executive summary: no, I don't know anything directly about this mob, but the signs are positive.
The name of it, though? Autism Spectrum Australia is typical Sydney egocentricity. Sites outside metropolitan Sydney == "rest of Australia", it seems. Bleagh. Still, it very much looks like the NSW counterpart of the ASD Clinic in Melbourne.
Ta. Yeah, the price tag is a bit ouchy, but being single with no kids, I can afford it, especially if it opens the doorway to improving my quality of life. Might take me longer to build up the cash than I'd like, but it's eminently doable.
As for the Sydney egocentricity, no argument from me - it'd be better called Autism Spectrum NSW (or, as you imply, AS Sydney.) But hey, they're relatively local to me at the moment, so ...
