OK, I'm happier with today.

In today's favour:
  • Courts were shorter, and I had some idea what was going to happen beforehand
  • There were fewer people there, so it felt friendlier
  • There was a volunteer who took over duty for field heraldry, so I wasn't yelling from go to whoa.

So: no meltdown today. Huzzah!

Maybe familiarity will acclimatise me so that I can bear more stress without breaking. That would be nice.

Yes, you were cool. As well as being easy to understand and extemporising appropriately, you recovered with grace and humour when you needed to. And promising to make an egregious error on all future occasions was an excellent touch -- I'll try to remember to hold you to that!

Sounds like Brian Goutte d'Eau is well ahead of the pack, and doing his office proud. Other reports from my spies in the field concur. However, there is a problem: if he does too well at his job, he will make people think they need to be supremely talented too, to take on the office, so when it comes time for him to step down, nobody will be willing to replace him. Therefore, I suggest a different course of action: make more mistakes! Make it look like any old muggins could be herald! But I fear his natural ability will simply make this impossible. The curse of the perfectionist!

Yep. You did done good! I look forward to seeing what creative errors you manage to invent for yourself in future.
