Laptop working again. Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10: Just Say No!
And with 8.04, Hibernation works out of the box, finally (no more hand-hacking acpi event files). Networking works out of the box, finally. Keyboard config works out of the box (what with the work I put in writing the keyboard description for Latitude laptops and submitting it to xkb-config).

Meh - I haven't had such troubles - though I ditched Jaunty once they upgraded the X ABI without the Nvidia drivers catching up quickly enough. Maybe tracking unstable _that_ closely isn't a good idea.

It's a latitude c640, with a broken DRAM slot, so limited to 256MB RAM. I didn't like KDE4, I didn't like that I didn't get to pick KDE4 or 3, I prefer Konqueror to Dolphin (although I don't mind the breadcrumb filesystem navigation), I don't like plasmids, I don't like how the graphics were corrupted (the taskbar especially so), and most of all I didn't like how the window manager took so much of the processing power it didn't leave any CPU time for anything else.

KDE4: Vista for Linux. And all this implies...
