Further; cults are evil. No, strike that: any organisation or person which tells people to stop thinking, to do what they're told and only what they're told: they are evil. Religious cults are merely a subset of this.

Yeah, that was pretty fucking depressing. My thought on reading it was: it's a pity they can't make religion illegal. Which is an over-reaction, I know, but—gah.

I used to think that adults who dragged their children into cults like this were victims too. I now think the exact opposite - they're much, much worse.

The cult starves a child and the mother couldn't do anything, because she was 'told' not to? WTF? Or how about grabbing the kid and legging it for the hills? Is that too hard? She made her choice - preventing a murder vs maintaining her dubious 'faith' and she chose the selfish answer.
