Right. Next person to ask a stupid question, or to criticise my prioritising of tasks, or to suggest that I need another direct report, or to give me another task, or to assume that I'm not, in fact, fucking busy, or to assume that if they aren't seeing me working on something they understand as work at this very moment, that I am therefore lazy and shiftless, will be greeted with a hail of bullets.

I'm off to do three more urgent things at once. Again. Still.

Today has been three of those days, and it's not even midday yet.

Probably the wrong time to ask.

But when is Comp Sci letting first years activate accounts to use the ICT labs?

I keep getting conflicting reports and I need somewhere to send first years when I tell them they can't have an ECR account.

I won't even dream of asking why they are waiting til the first day of semester to do it. But then I guess they have less students than us.

Who did you try and call? For this sort of thing, TSA is probably of more help than the front office. (If it was the guy who runs helpdesk (A.H.), then you won't have had much luck either, as he is panicking deeply involved in publications (as am I, inter alia) and training the new helpdesk people, and hasn't been answering his phone, and we can't pick it up remotely, and...). Feh. Just email me, eh?

And why then and not any other time? Sod if I know, you must be mistaking me for someone who actually has a say in things.

I don't know who Bruce called - I was herding and handholding 100+ first years at the time in the lab.

We spread our account creation/re-activation out over, well the whole year really. But are frantically busy creating accounts o'week and the first few weeks of semester. *shrug*

I'm curious to know what the actual proceedure is over there. Just so I can let students know. *insert rant here about how much easier it would be if the departments would talk to each other*

Then again - you obviously have more urgent things to do than answer my questions on lj, so I really should stop asking - feel free to ignore.

That said - we should actually do lunch or something one of these days.
