But then I'd never heard of Jamal Islamia until after the Bali Bombings.
Neither had I, but I'm not an expert on international terrorism, and I'm guessing that neither are you. Other people, OTOH, had heard of Jemal Islamia, and knew them quite well. And I had heard of abu Bakar Bashir, and the allegations that he was involved with a terrorist Islamic fundamentalist group, so in a sense I had heard of JI, I just didn't know its name.

From the reports last night, from people who are experts in Al Qa'eda and its offspring, none of them had heard of this group, and it's their job to know.

It's not simply that it is unknown, it is that the only, the only information on them is that they 1) speak arabic, 2) put up a web site, and 3) say that they dunnit.

On usual showing, expect a half-dozen more by the end of the day. Of itself, it means precisely nothing.
