Other people have also noticed that the US jumps when Israel says so.

And, guys, seriously. When you want to claim the high moral ground while you're killing terrified civilians in the course of killing thugs, then you might want to, oh, I don't know, not do exactly that thing which you claim makes your enemies worse than human beings. Just a thought.

Former Guantanamo inmates return to terrorism: Pentagon

I would put considerable and scathing scorn on one word there: “returning”.

I thought part of the point was that if they could be charged with something, that they would be would be held until they could be quietly locked in an oubliette forever without the need for a trial. That only those were freed who were either proven to have been innocent, or could not be even incidentally connected with actual terrorism beyond being in the wrong country, of the wrong ethnicity, or of having the bad judgement to be arrested kidnapped by random soldiers militants and warriors and opportunists, and then rendered sold to the US.

I have no doubt that many of those released have started seeking out US troops and trying to kill them. It could not possibly be anything to do with being kidnapped off the street, held in a high-security military prison for years without charge or any idea of how long they would be there or news from the outside world (like whether their families were alive or dead), then unceremoniously dumped back without so much as a ‘sorry about that’, that wouldn't give them any reason to go out and do what they had spent years being tortured in accusation of, would it?

Not only must Guantánamo be closed down, but Bush and his gang of psychopaths have left the US, and the world, with the clean-up. It can't just be shut, and this has not been feasible for years. There must be an exhaustive investigation of each case, those who can be returned should be with alacrity, and counselling, and recompense. Those who are guilty must be tried in a court above reproach, those who are innocent and cannot be returned to their own country, must be counselled, recompensed and resettled in a place of their preference where possible. It will be long and complicated and expensive, and you can thank Bush and his psychopaths for making it necessary.
