If I fall under a truck tomorrow, then all this work will evaporate like it never was, and it seems a shame to allow that to happen, if others can benefit.
I've always had an idea in the back of my head that I'd release all this “when it is ready”. The question is, when is it ready enough?
And for all that I've been teaching myself coding by doing it from first principles, I have benefited from the TeX and Perl communities, but it has always been from the outside. I would like to give back, but I'm still an outsider, and don't know where to go first.
It's like the first time you go to a meeting of a club you've just joined. You have this feeling that you've walked into someone else's conversation, and very uncomfortable asking for directions.
What I'm asking, I suppose, is for a guide to show me where the toilets are and tell me when I'm about to say something stupid or out of turn.
